4th of July

The 4th of July is probably one of my favorite holidays. I absolutely love it! So it is really hard for me when we are away from our families. Kevin had to work from 9-2 so the kids and I just hung out here at home for the morning. When Kevin got home we decided that we wanted to go to Liberty State Park. At the park you can see both the New York skyline and The Statue of Liberty. Kevin called the park the day before to see when we needed to be there by to get a good spot and they said that the park would be full by 11 am!!!! I vetoed that idea simply for the reason that i would be there by myself with the kids. Yeah, that doesn't sound like fun. In the end I lost and we went anyways but not until Kevin got home.
We went with Nolan and Lindsey and some guy just walked up to them and gave them 5 VIP tickets! So we were pretty excited!
When we got there we stood in line for a shuttle to take us from the parking lot to the park. We waited in line for about 45 minutes and decided that we could have walked there by then! So we set off on foot.
When we get about 1/2 a mile down the road we asked a cop where the VIP seating was and she told us that we were allowed to bring our cars in! So we turned around walked back to the parking lot got our cars and waited in the line of cars to get into the park!! Right when we are almost to the entrance Nolan calls us and tells us that we only had one parking pass. They were just two cars behind us in the van and so we decided to load everything from our car into the van. So we performed a very complex Chinese Firedrill right in the middle of the road. Then Kevin turned our car around, took it back to the parking lot and ran back to the van. ( Good thing he is a fast runner!)
FINALLY! We made it into the park and set out to find our special VIP seats. We couldn't find anywhere marked off or any special spots so Kevin went and asked a guy where the VIP seating was. The guy looked at him and said "You're not from here are you?" Then the guy proceeded to tell him that there was no " spot" you just sat where ever. The perk was that you got to enjoy being with the fine people of New Jersey.
WOW. Some deal it's a good thing we didn't pay for those tickets! Sorry but I would have preferred good seats to talking with people from New Jersey.
And to make the night so much better it rained the entire time!!! So we got about 4 pictures! But I guess it was better then nothing! THAT is why I don't want to leave on the East Coast because it rains ALL THE TIME!!! Bring on the west baby! By the time we get back we will have all turned into prunes!
People can make fun of small towns but I just witnessed the 4th of July at the Statue of Liberty and the fireworks in Idaho Falls, Idaho are better! I guess I am just biased!
Despite all the horrible things we had a great time together as a family and we enjoyed seeing our kids having fun. Isn't that what it's all about? :)

Way to have a positive attitude about it! Kev told me a little about the experience, but failed to mention most of what you told me! Crazy times! I'm glad you survived!:)
