Random things

Sunday afternoon we went out to my Aunt Sara's house. We were all just having a good time eating dinner and the kids were playing outside. Cahlin loves to play out at their house because there is a lot of space and she has 2 boys so he really just gets to be a boy. Everyone was just having a good time when all of a sudden we hear someone crying. It didn't sound like Cahlin so I let the other parents go inspect the situation. Turned out it was Cahlin. He was so upset it didn't even sound like him. He had been sung 2 times by a wasp. The boys decided it would be fun to throw rocks at the hive! I guess he learned his lesson! Anyways, This was Cahlin first offical sting! Poor kid!

Eyan hardly ever lets us snuggle him to sleep. The other day we were over at Melinda's helping her can. ( we didn't really help) And Eyan was so tired. We were headed home in about 5 minutes and he just passed out on Kevin's shoulder. It was so cute I had to have a picture.

Destiny

Five years from last night, Brittney and I started something that began with a cold night, a hometown football game, and a blanket to keep the cold away that was conveniently just big enough for two. Something that has no end from here to eternity that now includes our two incredible little boys. Five years ago today, I was getting up the courage to ask her on our first date, sitting by the phone wondering if I should wait a few days, or just call her. Feeling the anticipation of what her answer would be, and five years ago this evening, we shared our first date, our first sunset (from the top of the Menan buttes), and our first kiss (what can I say?... When she sees something she wants, she goes for it). Since then, there have been many other firsts. Many trials that would make us stronger and bring us closer together, and many more happy memories spent in the arms of the love of my life. I look forward to the rest of eternity, and want to publicly let my beautiful wife know that I love and appreciate her with all of my heart, and look forward to creating many more memories with her at my side. I love you Brittney! I could have never known that first date would lead to all of the wonderful things in my life that you now bring to it, and I could never be more happy than I am to have the privilege and honor of calling myself your husband. For time and all eternity.

Response

My brother Robert who is in the National Guard left this comment on my blog, in response to my 9-11 post. I thought it was AWESOME! This is what a true soldier would say about his country and duties. He will probably be embarassed that I posted this but oh well... he's to far away to do anything to me!

i want to say that as i sit here and think on what your mesage said i started to cry. i love this country the only thing i love more is my wife sabrina. i served a year in iraq to serve my country. to protect my land, my people, my family and freinds. would i do it again?..... IN A HEART BEAT! i am honord to serve in my nations armed forces. i am curretnly severing in alaska on ft greely on a missle deffense complex gaurding my home and country against nuclear attacks. i am proud to be an american and a soilder. it is my calling in life to stand between those who would hurt my country and loved ones. i would give my life in that service. i love you all. i am your brother, son, and husband. But most of all i am an american soilder..

9-11

When the September 11th attacks happened I was a Sophomore at Rigby High School. Everything started out as just a normal day. I was on the dance team and so I had been at the school since 6 in the morning. School was just starting. Dance was my first hour so I was still in the gym. I can't remember exactly what time it was but I think it was around 9 or so a teacher came into the gym and said that a plane had flown into one of the World Trade Towers. At first I didn't believe him and I thought nothing of it. Then he rolled a TV into the gym and we just sat there watching. I didn't understand really what was going on. I didn't really have any idea what the Towers were for or the seriousness of the issue. One of the girls on the team had a dad that was living there in New York and so we were all really worried about her and her family. The rest of the day I just remember watching the News at school. I don't think we did anything else. Now as an adult I can understand the seriousness of the attack. I understand the heart break and the sorrow that so many people in this country had to go through and are still going through. My heart goes out to those that lost loved ones on that tragic day. I don't understand why someone would want to commit such a horrible crime in taking innocent peoples lives.
It is sad to me now that so many people don't want to be in Iraq when such a huge atrocity was made against us. This event will live on in the lives of all the people that experienced it. My brother is in the National guard and in 2005 he was deployed to go to Iraq. It was terrifying knowing that I might never see him again. But I knew that he was serving our country and that someone had to protect our freedoms. I think that we take advantage of the beautiful country that God has provided for us. We need to fight to keep it safe for our families in the coming generations. If we don't stand up against terrorism and defend innocent people, even people that are not in this country, who will? The attacks may have ceased in our land but there are thousands of people that are being killed and tortured just because of who they are. We need to stand up for what is right. Americans are not cowards. We are brave, strong, free and a righteous people and we need to make a stand in this world.

HuSbAnD TaG

Savanna had this on her blog and I thought it was a great idea! I hardly ever just talk about Kevin on here and he totally deserves a little highlight! Here's to you baby! I love you!!!

1)What is his name? Kevin Lamar Jones
2)Who eats more? Kevin does, unless it's chocolate.
3)Who said " I love you" first? Kevin did. His cousins walked into the room right after he said it and so I couldn't say anything back for a bit. Made him sweat just a little!
4)Who is taller? Kevin
5)Who is smarter? Um...Kevin any day.
6)Who is more sensitive? When it comes to other people and sweet things I am. When it comes to his family Kevin's a total softy!
7)Who does the laundry? Me. Unless I ask Kevin to, then he helps out with no complaints!
8)Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If standing at the foot of the bed I do but we like to switch it up every now and then.
9) Who pays the bills? Well since Kevin's the only one with a job that pays...He does!!!
10) Who cooks more? I do, unless we are having eggs, Kevin always makes the eggs I burn them every time!
11)Who is more stubborn? I am on most things but, Kevin is totally more stubborn about finances.
12) Who is the first to admit they are wrong? Kevin!!! I will admit it... I'm a brat sometimes!
13) Who has more siblings? Me by 11. ( it's a complicated story)
14)Who wears the pants in the relationship? Kevin does, BUT I choose what brand they are!:)
15) What do you like to do together? Anything, as long as I am with Kevin I am happy. We love to watch movies, go on dates and have wrestling matches that I never win.(course it's totally cheating when I am ticklish and he isn't)
16) Who eats more sweets? I do. By a long shot.
17) Guilty Pleasures? Ok, Kevin LOVES Half and Half or just straight cream. He would drink it everyday if I let him. Just plain with nothing else! He also LOVES to eat the fat off of steak. ( It is so gross to watch!)But of course even with doing this he gains... ZERO weight!
18) How did you meet? We met in our 2nd hour Government class with Mr. Anderson our senior year. He shamelessly flirted with me. But of course it had no effect on me! :) No I was a sucker and i will admit, I had my eye on him!
19)Who asked whom out first? Well, one Friday night there was a football game and I asked Kevin if he was going. He proceeded to say " If you are going I will be there". So we went to the football game. But then he asked me on a date that night. So I'm not really sure...
20)Whom kissed whom first? Uh... Kevin totally kissed me first... but I didn't complain!:)
21)Who proposed? Kevin did.
22)His best features and qualities? His eyes, hair( he has the best hair ever) and his lips. He is kind, patient, loving, strong, giving, gentle, funny, sweet, righteous and tender. He is always looking for ways to make other people more comfortable. His love is unending for me and our children. He always treats me like a queen.I love you Kevin Lamar!

ZOO

The past two Friday's in a row we have played with Cahlin's cousin Caloway and his mom Melinda ( Kevin's sister). So we have decided that Friday's are our Caloway days! We always have so much fun the boys play great together and the best part is that when they are done Cahlin is completely trashed and ready for a nap. Today we decided to go to the Zoo here in Idaho Falls. Melinda had two free tickets so we didn't have to pay for anything! Which always makes things better!

Birthdays

Okay, so in our family we have about a million birthdays in September! It is so crazy! When I decided that I wanted to do a post for the birthdays at the beginning of this month I was super excited. Then I looked through all of my pictures and I don't have a single one for two of the people!!! I am sooo bad about taking pictures with other people! I will have to be better.

September 1, was my older brother Robert's birthday. He is 24!! Geez, it's crazy how we are all getting so much older! I make fun of him though because I will never be as old as him'!! haha! We love you Robert and we hope that you had a great birthday with Sabrina. We miss and love you and can't wait till we can see you guys again!
September 3, was my sister in-laws birthday Liz!!! Happy Birthday! I still haven't called you yet. But it's on my list of things to do today! You are the greatest. You are such a good friend and an amazing mom!! Hopefully we can see you all again soon and I hope that your birthday was everything you hoped it would be!
Today, September 4, is Kevin's older sister Lynette's birthday!!! Happy Birthday!!! We love you!!! You seriously rock! It was so great to see you in August. You guys are always the best at letting us stop and see you when we are driving that way! Next summer we will have to come out to Kansas just for you guys! You are such a great mom! Jake is a lucky boy! Have a great day but don't have TO much fun!!! :) ( we will call you too!)
We love you all and hope that this next year brings you joy and happiness!

As I was writing this I realized that I missed Robert's wife Sabrina's birthday! It was the end of August but I can't remember exactly what day. So I won't make a fool of myself and put it down! She was in Europe on her birthday... so I had a good excuse for not calling her! Anyways... we love you Sabrina , you are the greatest! Have fun with Burt and keep him out of trouble!

Roll Over

Eyan has mastered the roll over! He is pretty quick at it too! I am so excited to see him grow and get mobile. It has been harder to see Eyan get bigger than it was Cahlin. With Cahlin I was so excited for the next thing and I rushed him like crazy. ( It didn't matter though he still did everything when he felt like it!) With Eyan...I just love him being this cute rollie pollie baby! I'm not ready to have him crawling and being a kid! It makes me sad!
Starting the roll.
This kid is quick, I couldn't even get a transition picture!

Fun with Cousins

Cahlin had has such a blast this last week hanging out with some of his cousins! He gets to live with Whitney and Makenna right now and so that is a never ending party and he also has his Desmond cousins just down the road. We are having a great time just being a family! Kevin finds out about a job tomorrow! We can't wait to find out what will happen. Keep your fingers crossed!!
Cahlin and Caloway climbing the hill at Community park. They went up and down the hill at least a dozen times! They loved it and were very tired at the end.
The other day I decided that we should play horse and I volunteered Kevin to be the horse! So Makenna, Whitney and Cahlin all took turns riding the horse. It was a great game because I wasn't the horse!! The pictures are a little blury because Kevin would hold still for very long. He was a very wild horse!:)
The girls and Cahlin decided that the horse needed to eat. So they took these butterflies and feed him. They would shove Kevin's whole face into the net. I just couldn't stop myself from laughing!

Tub Time

Cahlin and Eyan officially had their first bath together! Cahlin loved it he was in charge of rinsing Eyan off. We couldn't bathe them in New Jersey together because there was a sliding door on the tubs. It was cute to see them having fun together. Eyan mostly just chewed on the wash rag and stared at Cahlin. But I think he liked it!
